Appliqué-sewing cut pieces of fabric onto other fabric

Awl – tool for leather working

Backstitch – sewing backwards

Baste – large stitches for holding something in place

bias tape – fabric cut on the diagonal into strips

bolt – a roll of fabric

cuff – a rolled up end of a sleeve or pant-leg

Darts – folded and sewn parts of a garment that make it fit a body
